Live Music in Yuma

With an increasingly popular jazz population, live entertainment is always a possibility. The Village Jazz Series offers free Thursday concerts from mid-January to April, while the Yuma Jazz Company is known to stop by local cafes or casinos. Large scale casinos are also known to book world renowned artists.

A perfect opportunity to relax while enjoying the fine arts of Jazz music is what Yuma has in store for any visitor. During the span of mid-January to April, The Village Jazz Series has free concerts. What makes it so relaxingly soothing is the low key nature that it maintains, doing so by hosting local or regional performers as patrons enjoy from a cozy blanket or chair that they bring along. Once in a blue moon, a world-class performer may stop by to play.

The Yuma Jazz company consists of 5 locals who play various public and private events around the city. The quintet has produced two albums in 2004 and 2006. They are known to stop by several common restaurants to play for fans. Locations range from Julieanna’s Patio Café to Lutes Casino.

Local jazz is also featured on Yuma’s own radio Jazz program, “Jazz Straightahead” on Saturdays from noon-2 pm on KAWC-FM 88.9. Listeners can tune in to hear updates on upcoming shows in the area.
