Playground Safety Training & Field Day
The City of Yuma Parks and Recreation and Triple M Recreation present Playground Safety Training and Field Day on Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“This is an important workshop opportunity for municipalities and school districts dedicated to creating a fun, safe playground experience for children,” said Frankie Vasquez, Grounds Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Yuma and also a Certified Playground Safety Instructor.
Playground Safety Training and Field Day focuses on the areas that are critical to maintaining playground safety including Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, playground maintenance, playground supervision, playground surfacing as well as playground use and fall zones. The Playground Safety Training and Field Day will take place in both a classroom environment as well as a hands-on playground setting.
The cost for the one-day workshop is $50 per person. Seating is limited. All workshop instruction takes place at the John Morris Recreation Cottage, 385 S. 13th Ave. in Yuma, and the adjacent Carver Park playground.
The workshop is taught and facilitated by City of Yuma Parks and Recreation and Triple M Recreation. Instructors from the City of Yuma include Frankie Vasquez, Nick Vasquez and Steve Davidson, each of whom is a Certified Playground Safety Instructor with many years of experience. Also teaching is Certified Playground Safety Instructor Steve Jensen from Triple M Recreation. Founded in May 2003, Triple M Recreation is the exclusive distributor for GameTime products, providing playground, athletic and recreational products for Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and west Texas. Jensen is a field representative and project manager who works in southern Arizona and has 10 years experience representing GameTime products.
